The amazing Tony Pellicane
Boy is this a cool picture. My guess is that Tony caught a burn diving to
his left and has just released a right-handed backhand. His partner John
Greensage hasn't touched the lead shot yet, so they have made a successful
escape.
A good front can do a lot in a short period of time, for example, while
they're airborne. Tony probably caught the burn upside-down with his thumbs
down, which makes it easy to flip up into a backhand since the grip is
already set. He probably also got his shirt tucked in before he landed.
